Inferno!

Today I had a photoshoot at a heathland fire. This fire is set deliberately, as a nature management tool. I am still busy processing but I thought I'd post these two in advance. Curious what you think.....

SMC-Pentax M 75-150 f/4 @5.6, ISO 200, 1/750 & 1/500

Really interesting - I like the trees imposed on the flame.

I assume you were upwind.

Yes, but not all the time. I will show some downwind ones too - tomorrow. Going to bed now...

I like the composition of #1 best, but the wall of flames in #2 is beautiful. I think the most fun thing I've ever been paid for is lighting the woods on fire in the middle of the night (working as a firefighter!) I look forward to seeing more of the series.

#1 is sweet! It has an interesting ambiguous twist about the smoke, could be mistaken for a low clouds or mist, until you see the fires. The trees is beautifully separated from the background.

I can imagine it was one of your best things to do! I think the firefighter involved yesterday had a very good day too!
I agree with you on composition and 'drama' in the two photos.

Thank you! Sometimes I myself couldn't hardly separate clouds from smoke
