Some more from sunny winter day
Posted By: gawan, 02-02-2009, 04:44 PM

This ice will soon be thick enough for the ice skaters, tempting!

This place is kept open for swimmers, brrr...

Waiting for the boats, well, some day later then..

I really like the first and 2nd images, Georg. But if I may make a suggestion, in the first, if you crop the image to just above the smoke stack and accordingly adjust the left and right sides, I think the emphasis will be more on the spectacular ice crystals on the water leading the eye to the colourful bulidings on the horizon. Nothing wrong with your crop, just a suggestion to alter the emphasis. You can so a quick sample without resizing just by making your window smaller and scrolling to see if you like it cropped at the top.

JMR, thank you very much for the thorough comment, I think I agree with you about the cropping, I will experiment with that. Btw, was it clear from the photo that the dark background behind the ice crystals is ice, just so thin the the dark water makes it look almost black.

Yes, I guess it is a thin layer of ice. But those crytalized snow clusters against the dark blue-black are just beautiful.

Georg, great photos, with wonderfull colours, especially the two first ones! Ice started melting here, so no ice skating here anymore

Beautiful series Georg! So bright and great textures. It was also sunny day here in Hyvinkää ... The first one is my favorite.

Well done Georg...don't you wish you could have gotten that second shot without all the foot traffic. I agree with you on that one... Brrr.

Thanks Rense! Here we have had it below freezing point for a week now, so maybe I will be able to shoot some ice skaters later...

Thanks Kurt, hopefully we will have more sun now that we are going towards spring.

Thanks Diane! Yes, I wish I could have had the snow field untouched, but no hope in such a public place..
