some DOF fun
Posted By: maritimer, 02-04-2009, 05:34 PM

so..... I've been actively going after DOF shots lately. Can't really explain what started this passion, just some photos on a flickr buddy's account ( hi Jamon ) sparked some interest one day... and here we are.

I never realized DOF work was so much fun! It makes everything available to be photographed in a unique way and I'm very glad to have discovered a passion within a passion.

Anyway... just gonna throw a few of my latest ones up here and see what you all think. I know DOF isn't everyone's cup of tea so I'm expecting a mix of input. As always, thank you for looking and for any C&C offered.

Thank you, red and yes, I was sporting the kit lens for each of these. I have to agree, for a 'kit lens' it does surprise me quite a few times at how sharp it can be.

Hi, I think one or two will cotton on to this idea of yours
DOF can be a photographers best friend, the same as bokeh. Cant have one with out the other.
You have done well here and i am sure there will be plenty to come, enjoy.
Thansk for sharing.
Cheers Neil

Thank you very much for the encouraging comments, guys. I knew that I liked these shots, just had to test them on other subjects besides the wife

Yes, these shots were all handheld. Last Saturday, the family had a huge fund raiser event for the cancer foundation they run and I had all day to play around. I found the later in the day, the longer I was able to hold the camera steady, which surprised the heck out of me.

Thanks again guys, always appreciate the comments
