"Arn" from the Oil Patch - B&W
Posted By: Sailor, 02-06-2009, 04:26 PM

A couple of days ago I took some shots of some early 20th century oil extraction equipment used in the Oil Patch - Houston and its environs. These, obviously, are B&W conversions and were taken with K20D/DA 16-45.

"Arn" is the appropriate pronunciation for the word, iron, in these parts.

The second one has an IR feel to it. Nice conversion to B&W.

Thanks, Tim and Jim. Back (way back) in my film days, I shot a bunch of B&W; now, I'm trying to get up to speed again.

Hi Jer, some very interesting pictures of some scrap Arn but the pictures are anything but scrap. My favourite would be the last one. Thanks for posting them,

Thanks much, Heinrich, Georg, James and Dave - for the nice words. I worked one summer ('66) on a rig crew doing test hole borings for bridges and box culverts along what is now Interstate '64. This work is much like what one encounters drilling for oil, and - like Dave - I'm glad I ultimately ended up with an inside job.
