FA 50mm 1.7 First shots (1.7) · 12:10 PM

Just picked up a mint FA 50mm 1.7 for a nice price.
I was eager to see how it performed wide open, as I was never really happy with my FA 50mm 1.4's wide open performance.
My computer is in the repair shot so these are JPEGS uploaded to picasa.

Certainly not super sharp at 1.7. But defiantly useable and a slightly dreamy look.
Am I in the Minority preferring the FA 1.7 over the FA 1.4??

The background blur is really nice (bokeh, however that's pronounced, lol)
I don't know. I have the FA 50mm f/1.4 and I think it's great. Maybe it's just a matter of taste. Or maybe a few people have gotten bad copies.

Check the reviews:

Pentax Lens Review Database - 50mm F1.7

The differences are subtle but some find that the 1.7 has a slight edge over the 1.4.

I often wonder is I just got a lemon 50mm 1.4
I really like the Bokeh, though i dont think its everyones cup of tea..

Actually Sflight I found a very good local deal on a FA (which is this one) I am still waiting for your one to come in the mail.

On that note, watch for this FA 50mm 1.7 in the marketplace someitme soon
