Today's Shoot
Posted By: Jimbo, 02-07-2009, 06:09 PM

Here are three I got today. Was within 5-6 feet of the Heron. Could not believe. Shot off 30-40 shots before it flew away. The Coyote was another lucky shot. Right place right time. It is in a cranberry field I believe. JIM

Nice crop on the fist one. And I like the bird's concentration on finding something to eat.

Wow! Fantastic shots Marc!

Just to be sure, you didn't crop away space on the left of this canine did you? Remember your daughters advice .

Really impressive shots Jim... (Did you get a longer lens or some good camo?)

That coyote shot's a keeper. Selective colouring would make that one pop!

Thank you. It took me a little time to get this close. Appreciate the comments. JIM

Thank you Ole. I thought at first I may have taken a bit too much off the left side. I may try another crop and post for comments. In this case I was only interested in the having the whole heron in the shot. Appreciate your comments. JIM

Crap, not even close to Marc!!! On the crop I have a little left on that side but was focusing on the bird itself. I will posted another version soon so you can compare. JIM

Could not believe it. normally if I get within 30-40 feet I consider myself lucky. I wish I had time to set the tri-pod up but was more concerned about getting the shot. JIM

Thanks Ash. I still may play with that one a bit though I didn't want to take too much away from the coyote and I thought some of the grass colors blended well with the shot. Cheers JIM

Little more brightness added to the shot. It looks much better in full resolution. JIM

Cool Jim- I was actually asking about the coyote... I like the original tight crop on the heron. I went back and reread your OP and realized that that you didn't need a long lens to get close to this bird - How lucky.
