First shots with my new K20d
Posted By: ve2vfd, 02-09-2009, 01:05 PM

I already posted some of those in another forum, but they belong here so here goes.

I just received my new K20d a few days ago, but I am working so no time to go out and try it out... so I started to play with it in my station between calls.

All pics with the Tamron 17-50. The first 4 are ISO 400 under harsh fluorescent lighting (white point ajusted with grey card).

This is the hose rack at the back of the station

Next, our station logo (yes we do have a moose rack on the wall... )

This is a loaner truck as ours is getting fixed (loaners are mostly beaters that have had better days)

My gear locker with spare boots and bunker. I focussed on the bunker inside the locker.

For the next few shots, I am trying out the TAv mode (which I like a lot!)

My helmet

My hemet again

The same pic, but just cropped 1:1, no resize at all, no processing

PS: If you're wondering about the green "58" dots on the helmet, we have been without a contract for 3 years and that was part of a pressure tactic (we can only take symbolic measures as we do not have the right to strike or do anything that could inany way affect public safety).

Congrats on your new K20D, it surely is a great camera.
Great shots, I especially like no:6, the helmet on the front of the engine. Nice details.
Ps. Good luck with your fight for a new contract.

Congradulation on the new camera and the pictures here are unique depicting the routine equipment of fire brigade.

Maybe black and white conversion would make them pop more

The first and fifth shots are the ones I find most interesting.

Pfh ... Thanks, I also like #6... it has a certain look to it.

roentarre ... Thanks! A B/W convert is definetly in the plans, as soon as I get some free time I'm thinking the hose rack will look interesting in B/W

Alefone ... Thanks! Yes, that K20d is definetly a step up from my old K100d!

Matt ... Thanks! I'll try to BW the first when I have some free time, that should look interesting!

Dave ... Thanks, heck yeah this new toy should definetly keep me happy for a little while! I can't believe how much more controll I get "at my fingertips" compared to the k100d.

I'm actually shocked at how much sharper the Tammy 17-50 is with the K20d, I liked it with the K100d, but this is a whole new level!
