Amazing what you see when you look up!
Posted By: photo_mom, 03-28-2007, 11:13 AM

Hi!

March Kite Fly-in, 2007:
Well, the shock is gone since NaClH20 got there before me, but who would have ever thought to see a shark chasing a parrot?

The whole set can be found here:
SmugMug - tsj-photo : March_2007

But here are a few of my favorites:

Pentax K10D DFA 100mm f16 200ISO

100% crop

Our kite:

FA50mm f19 200ISO

NO! Don't cross the streams! (Heard that a lot out there.)

A mermaid chasing a butterfly...
Pentax A*300mm f13 200ISO

Just like last year, a real flier came to check out the action. Last year it was a bald eagle. This year I'm not really sure what came through, but it looked vicious.
A*300mm f9.5 200ISO (100% crop)

A*300mm f19 200ISO

Yea! Kites! Thanks for posting these Tracy, your's is more interesting, At least your "shark" had his "prey" in sight! Loved the one with all the strings and the other one with all the kites. And the pink flamingo is a real smiley.

Glad you liked them! It was a VERY windy day. You didn't have to work to get the kites off the ground at all - just hold them up and let go. My daughter had to eventually put the flamingo up because the wind got too strong.
Thanks NaClH20!!

I like the last one with the tri-wing, I think the bird is an immature bald eagle. They don't get the familiar colors untill they are older

Shark! Really like the shots! I'm wondering if I can pull off flying a kite in the mall parking lot. Would probably be a funny sight.

Well I'm glad to see you back Tracy. The kite shots are great and I really like your kite. Back in December I bought a dragon at Costco and I hope to get some time with the grand kids in the next few weekends to give it a go. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Tracy, Great story with a sequence of beautiful photos.

I particularly find the shot with so many kite threads crossing each other appealing!

The real thing is kind of fun too (I was pondering whether that was a kite or a real eagle!)

The last shot looks adorable that you would want to ask her whether she is ok

Hi Tracy!

Nice images, good to see you posting again. Must have gotten busy, either that or my timings here are weird.

That hawk looks like it's skeleton is bare lol. Nice captures all of them.

Cheers!

Thanks Borno! I like the colors in that one as well. It's one of a series of 3 where the other two are of the girl letting go and then with just the girl. But I thought that one was the best of the 3.

We thought it was a young bald eagle as well. Thanks for the help! I was just confused by the markings. The general outline is like an eagle, though.

One that flew over my house on Pentax Day:

Last year's visitor:

Hi Eddie! Thanks! We had to explain the reference to our daughter. We got the Ghostbusters DVD a week later. But it's funny how you remember movies like that as harmless until you watch it again and realize it's not really meant for 10 year olds to watch!

Oooooo! I want to see pictures of that! Sure you can do it. The mall security might have different thoughts about it, though.
