I took my freshman composition students to the art museum today. They're starting an interpretive paper. This is the first time I've done this assignment, and I didn't know what to expect. After a few anxious minutes, one of them sat down, and then another, and then another . . . It was pretty amazing to see them slow down and really look. It was one of those times when a teacher gets something back from the students.

I really like your 3rd and last picture a lot... all very good. were these handheld too? Must be a nice feeling when your students get into one of your assignments; must make all your hard work worthwhile! Congrats on your pics and your student's embracing your lessons!

Thanks for the comment. I'm definitely going to build more trips outside the classroom into my classes.

Yes, they're handheld. I used the tav setting for the first time on the first and last shot, and it bumped the iso up to 1600 and 1250. That's a pretty convenient setting. The others are with a 1.4 lens wide open, so light wasn't a problem.

Sounds like a good exercise with your students, I think I would like to do that on my own some day, I mean slow down, my old knees don't let me sat down on the floor though
