Couldn't Sleep...
Posted By: justuspr, 03-30-2007, 08:59 AM

Well I woke up this morning at 5:30 and could get back to sleep so I got up and took my camera downtown. Unfortunately it was still pretty overcast so I never got great light. All shots at ISO 200.

The Salt Lake Temple - FL=21mm / Exp = 1/20 / A=f16

Another of the Temple - FL=18mm / Exp = 1/10 / A=f16

Dancing - FL=40mm / Exp = 1/45 / A=f8

The Statue - FL=148mm / Exp = 1/30 / A=f16

I kept waiting for the bird on the statues hand to fly away but he wouldn't leave. (was there for almost 2 hours)

All in all a very pleasant way to spend a morning, was a little on the cold side though. There are more in my picassa albums.

I remember seeing this temple in a wedding video somewhere on the net. I like the statue shot even with the bird on it!

Nothing beats the early morning or evening light, in any situation.
Thanks for posting.

Wow, nice pictures! It's a good thing you couldn't sleep because you couldn't have captured those pictures had you been sleeping.

Overcast is my favorite light. If I want more contrast I can always add it in PS/LR, it is tough to go the other way. Nice shots. I love Temple Square.

The 4th shot impresses me. Love the soft cherry foreground (or the pink flowers ) with the statue looking into a distance.

My favourite is the first, the B&W...
I should start thinking about getting up earlier
