Lazy Wildlife (Owl and Seal)
Posted By: palmor, 02-16-2009, 03:05 PM

The Snow Owl decided to make an appearance again today but he was feeling a little bit lazy. Maybe all the attention has gotten him a little bit tired.

In all seriousness I kind of felt bad for the bird today. He was in the dunes near a parking lot with a handful of people looking at him when someone a parking lot over started to fly their remote control airplane. You could tell the owl was a little bit disturbed by the plane then one flyby got a little too close and the owl took off. This picnic table is where we found him. A little while later he really gathered a crowd. My wife and I went to get lunch and we came back like an hour later and he was still their posing.

We didn't stay with the owl, we decided to go looking for Bald Eagles. We saw a few in the distance but what we did see was this very lazy seal floating up river on this little patch of ice. I think he was watching us as closely as we watched him sometimes (the tide was coming in so the river was flowing up)

I was going to say the same. But he knows for whom he poses.;-)
I like the seal shot, an almost human look and well composed.

I am amazed at the detail in the feathers on these shots. Well done. That bird has amazing eyes. The seal's pose is really well done also.

These are nice. Do love the lazy owl! You must be very much "North of Boston" to be taking these!

The DA*300 and Kenko 1.5xTC are a really great combo so far. In the 100% view you can really see in the Owl's mouth, kind of freaky actually heheh

Nope, only about 20miles N. Those photo's where taken along the coast about a half hour north of Boston. The Snowys come down for the winter all along the coast, even south of Boston.

Thanks again
John
