The model wore red (sort of)
Posted By: Damn Brit, 02-17-2009, 12:05 AM

This Towhee seemed quite happy to pose for me. He was perched on a pile of logs from an oak that had to be cut down a couple of years ago.
The robin kept changing pose like a pro.

Larger versions are better.

Yeh, its a Towhee (Rufous-sided in some books...). I was chasing two of these around for much of the afternoon on Saturday and never got a good shot!

Nice Gary! He's got quite a orange/red eye doesn't he? The rich green background makes him stand out.

Hey Gary

The last one is my favorite... I am having trouble with the click to get the larger size... it goes to a different look... but it is not larger

Am I doing something wrong? I would like to see the larger versions of these...

-edit- I just rechecked and maybe it is a tiny bit bigger... but I was hoping for a 1000 wide or so

I very much like the last three Gary. At first I thought the close-ups were crops, but as I studied the images, all the poses were different.

Thanks Ivan and I think you meant CHEEP. You were still right though because I was at work so I was actually getting paid for the shoot. The boss thought I was planting bulbs.Shhh

Thanks Taff (I just know it wasn't the kind of model you were hoping for though)

Thanks Lowell and Steve, I didn't think I was right . It makes sense now though because there were plenty of female Towhees about. I've corrected the first post.

Thanks Jim, I was working in that part of the nursery for the past couple of weeks clearing the blackberry bushes away from the creek bank. I think the birds got used to me being around which made it easier.

Thanks Jeff, yes the eye does stand out well against the green and for a bird, I also find them quite expressive.

Thanks for looking Gus, I don't know what's happening to the size thing, I'm not technical enough. Bigger versions are in the gallery; https://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/...lbum-5983.html you should be able to click twice on them there and fill your screen.

Thanks JMR, you were right on the money about the close ups, they are crops, just taken from different images.

Thanks FuzzyOne, sometimes I go a bit OTT with the colour but in this case they are true to life, I had good light.
