I like the 1st and third the best for color... and that last one is sharp!

the second one, in color and a little taller and wider on the right side would be fun to see...

Great first effort with the new cam

Very nice. How are you liking the A 50 1.7? Picked up one myself for my k200d as well and I am very impressed. Love the 3rd shot BTW.

I'm really liking the A 50 1.7 although I must confess I'm still discovering the nuances of it. My first observation is the beautiful sense of color rendition I'm able to get from it.

Three nice images but I agree with Gus, that second one is framed a little tight. For my taste I would keep it in B/W. That 50 1.7 is indeed a very nice lens, I'm glad that I kept mine.

The third shot is nice and sharp with saturated colour. But I think it needs a bit of lightening. In Photoshop Curves you can use the preset "Lighten" or whatever it is called.

Also, since you have cropped so close, consider going even further. Maybe a square crop removing the green on the left-hand side?

Hope this helps!

This is just my opinion on your pictures and does not mean this is not what you wanted.

1. harsh contrast (oversharpened maybe) , black area above cutting off photo abruptly, chair behind vase on edge of table. Look at frame when shooting
2. Again, flowers cut off at top of frame, flat image (b&w conversion, low contrast)
try to be consistent with PP
3 Central composition, front OOF flower takes up to much of the image, still looks oversharpened.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated. It's interesting, after reviewing your comments the chair that you refer to is actually a radiator and on my monitor, which is calibrated, is hardly visible. The cropping and the composition is not an issue I certainly appreciate that observation but I am concerned at the visual presentation of my picture on my monitor be it contrast or over sharpening . When I do a print out of the picture on my Epson 1400 it for the most part is dead on with the monitor. Its just interesting that what I determine as suitable pp on my system might be viewed as off on some other system. Just a thought.
