LBA: The Limited Strikes Back / Return of the DA Star
Posted By: hamidlmt, 02-20-2009, 01:02 AM

It's been a new lens double feature this week!

After having sold the DA 14mm 2.8 and Tamron 28-75mm 2.8, I picked up a new FA 77mm 1.8 Limited and a lovingly used DA* 16-50mm 2.8 (many thanks to MikeDubU).... I paid a total of $1060 for both lenses... about $600 of that came from the sale of the 14mm and Tamron.

I could not be happier! I have been dreaming of the 77 Limited since before I even had my first Pentax camera body. And, the 16-50 is going to be wonderfully versatile.

Here's my version of brick wall samples... all wide open...

16-50mm @ 1/100 sec, F/2.8, iso 400, 16mm

16-50mm @ 1/100 sec, F/2.8, iso 400, 50mm

77 Limited @ 1/50 sec, F/1.8, iso 100

77 Limited @ 1/80 sec, F/1.8, iso 400

The trouble with lenses like these is that nothing is sacred...all is revealed....sorry mate; but one of your dogs has got fleas :ugh:

Cheers.

From my first 5 minutes with the 77

A quick portrait of my sister in law, who's now living with us. Not the best lighting in the hallway and I hadn't dialed in the focus adjustment yet. I'm looking forward to really putting these two lenses to work with some portrait photography!

Congrats for the new lenses! I notice now that my 16-50 is my most used lens, it seems to fit in my kind of photography so well, and gives great results!

I can already tell just how versatile the 16-50 will be!

But, it's a very sharp, in focus eye booger! Do you want a 100% crop?

I too got into trouble for leaving eye booger on the dog when testing the nifty fifty when I got it

Nice results here. Looks like you'll be very motivated for a while.
