Motorcycle Ice Racing

I never photographed any fast moving subjects like this before and wasn't sure what to expect. I tagged along with a friend as the "photographer" to a lake in New York Saturday. I made no promises to the group. I was pleasantly surprised when I edited them in Lightroom.

I think I shot about 400 and ended up keeping about 280. I collected some emails and posted them on my Zenfolio site for the guys to download. I'll be paid in beer.

Here are a few of my favorites. All shot with K20D and DA 55-300.

Great shots !!! I went to see the ice races at a local arena a few years back, and was very disappointed, it was a hockey rink, and the track wasn't even HALF the length of the rink. But it looks like the outdoor version would be damn fun to watch !!!

Love the last few, they really are great action shots.
Makes me want another dirtbike.

A nice series of really good shots. Ice racing of bikes and ATV's is quite popular around this area and can usually be found going on somewhere every weekend whether a formal race or just fooling around. Its always fun to watch.

The second series are best than the first one!!. I´m really impressed because is the kind of pics i try to do and i know how difficult is to focus properly. The first one and the fallen guy are specially strong and brilliant!!

Thank you all again. It would have been nice to use a slower shutter speed when Steve fell. But I just couldn't get him to do it again for some reason.
