As a retirement present to myself, I ordered a DA 35/2.8 Limited from B&H. Last evening, during my moderately boisterous retirement party the lens arrived unexpectedly a day early and initially unnoticed. Later, we discovered it on our door step and this morning I squinted my eyes, attached it to my K20D and tried it out.
Here are two shots taken of a left-over champagne bottle: both were hand held (a brave act under the circumstances) at f/2.8, the first at ISO 400 (intentionally left unstraightened to reflect the feeling of the moment) and the second at ISO 100:
My initial highly (and shamelessly) subjective judgement is the lens is a solid optical performer - although perhaps a notch or two below my best lenses in this regard - DA40/2.8, DA 70/2.4, and A* 85/1.4. Anyway, looks like a keeper and a good travel lens that will combine close focusing, a versatile FOV and a relatively small package
