played hooky, went to the zoo
Posted By: sealonsf, 03-05-2009, 02:32 PM

Okay, so it was just an hour at the end of the day, and I worked the rest of the day, but here are some of the photos I took. Some are definitely better than others and next time I'm going to take more time and actually concentrate on what I'm doing. Taken with my K2000, DA55-300

Not a zoo creature, but this gull was just hanging around bothering the grizzly bears.

One of the grizzlies the gull was bothering. I love his claws.

Gotta love the flamingos.

Growl. Love the tigers.

This eagle was at the zoo but not in an enclosure or tied down - really beautiful bird.

And one more...

Gorgeous peacock.

Your shot of the bear is really good. I like the way the shadows and light work. That's the hardest part of taking pictures for me and I think it's just about the most important (from what I can gather).

These are good animal shots. I really like the peacock and the eagle. As to tiger, Like the BW best because it conveys his almost menacing look best. In fact, if you shrink your window and then scroll the image until just below the ears, the mencaing look is accentuated and jumps out at you.

Very true! Thanks. Cropping is a lot of fun. This was taken at the San Francisco Zoo where a tiger got out awhile back and stalked and killed a young man. There is a new enclosure now and the tiger that did it was killed. Very sad story, such beautiful animals.

A bad day shooting beats a good day of work anytime and that was not a bad day shooting by any means. Nice series. Like them all.

Great images, I love the coloured versions, the bear being my favourite above all!
