Freezing rain storm PEI
Posted By: Peter Zack, 03-05-2009, 10:14 PM

This week we had a solid day of freezing rain and the weather has stayed cold since, so there's been a few days to get some shots. Some areas were without power for a couple of days but generally not too bad.

This is a really nice series. Love the shots but am glad they weren't taken by me. I hate the cold.

No it's not my house. Mines buried in a subdivision and this one is all alone on a hill. Great for a little sunset shooting.

The cold is wearing thin now. It's been a long winter.

Thanks for having a look.

I just noticed the site resizing caused some dithering in the sky's of 2 shots (banding). that's not there in the originals.

another great ice series! I like them all, but especially like the first: great composition and the colors really make it work for me. You have just a little more to wait for spring, but it's coming!

Here in the Vancouver/Portland area, we refer to ice storms as a "silver thaws". The damage to plants and structures is often extensive, but the trade-off is in the beauty of the ice itself. I have tried several times to photograph the ice, but have not enjoyed the success you show in this series. Thanks for sharing.

Just a little cooler here. But ice storms are a sign of spring. We don't get them every year but it's rain at just the correct temperature. Thanks for commenting.

It is, we live in hope. A polarizer sure helps with these exposures!. Thanks

Thanks Jim, the house just has that 'cosy' look to it with all the ice outside. That was a tough exposure to get some balance. Several junk shots! Thanks for looking.

the ice shots are wonderful. I like first and last best. I like the way the light enhances the shapes of the branches of the trees.
Thanks for looking and commenting. I was glad a few of these worked as well.
