Two for Jer
Posted By: Jimbo, 03-06-2009, 01:21 PM

Took this shot of this poor boat yesterday. The light was bad but I wanted to show my buddy Jer. I will go back and re-shoot soon under better light. Same picture with one converted to B&W. [just playing around] JIM

A terrific image - note the irony of the obviously old boat carrying (relatively) new radar dome!

Very nice, JIM. I think I like the color one a bit better, but I'm not sure.

JIM, when I opened this thread I saw a good shot, first thing I thought was, it's a great shot actually but I'd like to see it in BW. I scrolled down and voila... you delivered, I love the BW pic, just such a great shot! ... though I prefer composition of the first one...

I thought that was funny too Jer. [newer radar equipment] I don't know how long it has been there but I will go back when there is better light. JIM

Thanks Gus. I do agree with Peter on the B&W look of it though and will change the crop to the same as the color. The sky was blown out with the boat in the shadows. JIM

I will change to crop on the B&W. I am still playing arond in the PP on the B&W. Should have it done in a few hours and will re-post. JIM

Is it me or is the horizon tilted?
I'm a bit of a traditionalist and for landscapes, that's the first thing that meets my eye. I feel the colored version conveys the mood better.

Yes it is slightly tilted? Fixing in final PP. Thanks for looking and commenting. I will more then likely re-shoot this under better light soon. JIM

Whoa there tiger....That is a cool shot!!!The black and white works well there. I wonder what it would like like through a red filter?

Good suggestion on the filter Javier. Like I mentioned, I will be re-shooting this soon and may take a few different filters. If I do I will post again. This shot has so much potential given the right light and time of day. I don't think it will matter about high or low tide. Thanks for the suggestion. I am still working on the B&W version. JIM

I like the coloured variant. I think at treatment pellicle grain is not enough and a sharp background with modern buildings does not give dramaticness to the picture.
