Broken dreams, broken camera
Posted By: brkl, 03-10-2009, 08:30 AM

So, I bought a Yashica GSN fixed lens rangefinder from Ebay. "Excellent plus condition. Iris blades perfect. Fully operational camera." And it did look perfect.

But the damn aperture is stuck at 16. It doesn't have TTL metering, so I didn't notice until I had the first roll of film developed -- most pictures taken at night.

Some pictures were OKish (not the night ones of course).

The rest...

That one is a great shot of my friend playing pool. Trust me.

She's just stunningly cute. Just take my word for it

Agh, so disappointing. And now I have to try to get my money back or something.

The film look is something very nostalgic. I like your first shot actually

Thanks for the sympathy I'm actually surprised by how much they could get out of the pictures -- if I underexposed that much on my K10D, all I'd get is chroma soup.

I'm emailing the seller now. He sent a lengthy email about how I was wrong and the camera is perfect. It's fine though, he's just a proud former owner. I think we'll get something settled. I'd like to have it repaired, but I don't know how much that costs (and I'm not going to pay for it).
