Seagulls in mist
Posted By: JMR, 03-10-2009, 12:17 PM

A BW version of seagulls in morning mist waiting for some morsels to appear as the fishermen get ready to set off. I waited until a few started to fly and land, and this is one I caught in flight. Taken a few years ago in Peggy's Cove. I wanted to retain the lightness of the fog but bring out the expressive tonalities so I opted for BW.

Very clever and beautiful, nice how got those gulls play the main part in this one despite the mist!

Thanks. I guess I should call it fog rather than mist. Yes, the gulls are ever present around the harbour, knowing that's where the fish and spoils come in.

Thanks, Dave. I was looking for sand model, but no luck.

Great shot, I like the way the fog makes it feel so dreamy and timed the gull just right. I like the name of the boat, just kidding, Thanks for sharing.

Nice work. gives off such a relaxing feeling. It should be framed and hung in a restaraunt in that area.

Nice and subtle JMR, I see you found another boat with a hull made by your namesake.

I think this is a great shot. It raises questions, but above all the feeling that I want to be there! Very good!

Thanks for the comments everyone. Fog and mist are one of the best ways to convey mood.

Really nice shot, Jim. Love the foreground and background elements - those gull sitting on the rocks add a nice bit of contrast to the overall pic. And definitely agree with the comments re: "feel" of the shot.

Ah, I miss the fog and this is a really top notch capture of the "feel" of the place. Thanks,
Brian
