At the train station
Posted By: Rense, 03-11-2009, 03:07 PM

I posted some pictures from the train station in the anniversary tread of the POTW, but I left some behind to post them here. Shot with the M 135/3.5 on my K20.

I like 'em - they show the distractions people look for when waiting for something.

Depicting people in their natural environment - nicely done.

Jezza, Dave, thanks! Both are wide open or a half stop down, I don't quite remember.... I changed aperture several times during this session, but I started wide open, and the first one is from the very beginning. The second one is wide open allmost certainly, because I remember having some metering problems at that point when stopped down, resulting in overexposed images. Only this one came out decently.....

Rense, very nice conversion work on those two, I think they look great.

First one, I think you should have been shut down some, It looks a little soft (on my laptop anyway).

The second one is great compositionally but I think the pole on the far right is a distraction and it would have been nicer to have seen a little more of the wall on the right. I think the people are perfectly grouped though, the out of focus couple catch the eye but then the brain takes you to the in focus subject.
I don't like the lightbulb in the top of the girls head.
Nice stuff.

Rense, I just wanted to qualify my comments about your shots. I make unrequested comments like that when I think a picture is very good and deserves repeating if possible.

Gary, thanks for your constructive comments . I overlooked the pole at the far right during cropping, because in the original there was even a more terrible pole at the outer border..... Don't you think the lightbulb comming from the girls head is because of her very bright nature????

Thanks again!
