55 end of the 55-300
Posted By: dylansalt, 03-12-2009, 01:14 AM

Thought I would share the performance of the 55-300 @ 55mm

This pic shot at Iso 400 F8 1/350 sec handheld

This one at Iso 100 F4 1/90 iSO 100

Not too shabby

This lens is becoming my main lens of use lately using only the kit lens for the wide end of things

Indeed it is a sharp low cost lens. #1 has outstanding sharpness and color and in #2 that is about how high I would try rock climbing the 1 foot fall I could almost handel.

This is a sport called "Bouldering" - it is part of Rock Climbing but with less risk
where the climber "sets" a route grading from easy to near impossible up a freestanding boulder about 4m in height.

The 2nd pic was at F4 which is wide open.

There was another photog with a Canon dslr and 75-300 lens (part of our group) and the pics were given to my son - too be quite honest they were really shite - washed out, shake blur.

People just don't realize how amazing in body SR is when shooting hand held at 450mm and the brilliant contrast & punchy pics the Pentax lenses produce

Ha ha - not a stepladder

It is a 15m ladder leading up to a platform linked to other platform - quite popular here, used for corporate team building exercises
