Boats and Moss
Posted By: JMR, 03-12-2009, 07:06 PM

Another shot from Nova Scotia, which has many beautiful bays and this one escapes my memory.

JMR
Edit- Just added two more. The second is very similar in that it juxtaposes colour and shapes; the third is striking in that it has a bold foreground, but I am not that happy with the dark reflections ans so converted tyo BW. Nevertheless, I wanted to show them because I love Nova Scotia!

Colorful but ethereal at the same time - pretty unusual combination. Could we see the original? I'm betting that'd be a nice composition, as well.

I agree - having been to NS (lived there for a few years and my Dad is from Bedford) - this is one of a million great shots that province has to offer. Nice PP and I would like to see the original as well.

Yes, it is true that the colours have been accentuated by the Orton process. In fact had to tone them down. But when doing any technique, the issue has to be, does it work? If it does not work then why bother, move on to another image. I don't usually post originals, but here it is for those interested. It is not bad, but I just had to try an Orton; sometimes I try BW or even a combination of the two, or other techniques, as long as they are suitable and work for the image and convey what I want the viewer to see.

Well, some of my Orton's are meant to be dreamy and painterly, and I accept that not everyone likes this. On this one, I just wanted to accentuate the colours because I thought it suited the subject matter without being overdone. In other words, I tried to accentuate the feeling of the place. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks. Ok, I posted it with Jimbo's reply. It's pretty much the same except for the Orton.

JMR: Thank you for posting the orginal which I really like. There looks to be so much potential for this area depending on lighting and time of day. Well done on the conversion. JIM
