Morning, day and night...
Posted By: Duh_Vinci, 04-06-2007, 06:17 PM

Tried three different lenses at different times of the day:

Morning (Tamron SP 28-75 LD DI)

Day (Pentax DA 18-55 kit)

Night (Tamron 28-200 XR IF)

DA 18-55 kit lens - I originally bough just the body, but after seeing so many great captures with the kit lens, I had to get one just to see what it does... I can honestly say, best kit lens I've ever seen! My old Canon kit lens was not even remotely close to the image quality and color of this one. Best $54 I've ever spent!

Regards,
D

Hi D. I still say that the kit lens is the best "bang for the buck" lens I have in my bag. Many swear by their more expensive lenses, but if you are willing to work within the DA 18-55 tolerances, the lens is a gem.

NaCl(it has it's faults but it is still a very good lens, and a great lens for it's price)H2O

Everything is so vivid, I love all 3 pic's

I have to agree with you about the kit lens, it's what I had on my camera for most of the pic's I posted today. I only made 1 lens change to my Sigma 75-300 APO, which was more for a little macro photography than anything. Which the kit lens handles fine as well

Really like #1 #2 for different reasons.
#1 very nice flow and the eye goes into the shot nicely, soothing colors
#2 Intense hot color combo.

As good as the other two are, I think the 18-55 takes a lot of beating.

I agree with all the other's here. These are great shots and the lens choice was very good also. I like all three and in particular the second shot for the way the DA 18-55mm brings out the intense color of day.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

I agree, 18-55 has very warm, well saturated, rich colors, almost as if I mounted CPL (at least that's how many images looked with CPL on my old 18-200 Sigma, otherwise it was a "cold tint" lens)

D

Great set of photos!

I personally am happy with the performance I get out of my kit lens. It's much, much better than any of the kit lenses I have had a chance to try (Canon's 300D kit lens, Nikon's D70 kit lens, and Oly's E-300 kit lens).
