Heh, I remember there was a post along time ago with a shot of a bird on the photographer's hands =). How was this one done? Was it remotely triggered by movement or infrared remote? Great shots especially #1

I'm just waiting for a shot of the bird pecking at its reflection in the lens element...

Impressive series of shots in this thread and the other at 10mm.

Both sets are extremely good, you even managed to get some humour in to some of the shots.

Great stuff Mike. I would never have considered a wide angle for birding.

In an attempt to nab the unknown thieves Mike set up a simple sting operation.
The unsuspecting perp is caught with the goods in his beak.
The hidden camera flashes and it's game-over for Mr. Chickadee.

Have to agree with others, great shots, unusual angle makes them so interesting!

Thanks Everyone for your comments, I used the Wireless remote but they were very friendly birds and i probably could have presse the trigger at the camera, i didn't use the flash although i might next time to get a little fill light and i'm not worried about the chikadees pecking my lens... isn't the 10-17 suppoed to have chickadee protection coating?

Mike

You did one step ahead of me as I was planning to use the same setup with a 16mm fisheye (+huge dof) and K20D (+rear IR trigger sensor). You did well . With a FE or wide wide lens you do not even need to focus at all as shown.

chickadee is the most friendly bird indeed
