Is this photo the real deal?

I'm inclined to think it's a fake, at least in large part. Anybody know anything about this photo? Is it the real deal or some sort of post-processing trickery? From what I do know, it was taken this past March in or around Kansas.

I would like to catch a bolt like that in a shot, but I don't want to be anywhere close to a twister like that!

Do you think 200 mm is good enough to take a picture like that from afar? Haha.

Heck... the weather service calls that a "waterspout"? A waterspout that big deserves to be called a tornado! Anyway, yes it is supposed to be real and was fairly widely circulated (and recirculated).
