Flowers

Well I was never much of a flower guy except for the ones I gave to my wife probably not as often as she deserved or would have liked

Since owning a DSLR I have a new appreciation and have on occasion actually gone to a greenhouse and or conservatory to shoot some! One of the biggest initial thrills for us snow bound Canadians when we take a winter retreat is the cornucopia of colors. It seems that months of winter drab and white starve the sense. Ok enough of an introduction. I could not tell you name of any of these plants other than the red one , yellow one haha.

Nice series Dave. Isn't Spring color great after a long, cold Winter? The wildflowers are just starting to appear here....I'm ready for them.

You know now you're going to have to start a LBA for macro tools/lenses/extension tube/rail/etc

heheh. and a whole lot of reading on plants, flowers etc.

Thanks Scott - that is actually Winter in Mexico - spring is here in my towon in name only - still a foot of snow on the ground ahhhhhhhhhhhh

ha - I have a Sigma 105 wich is a nice macro lens alerady - just need the pratice ... and currently on CBA (looking at K2OD ..) LBA is in a short remission.

Dave has 'Flower Power'!

I really like the Hibiscus - #3 and #4. Good bokeh on #3.

Our house is like a jungle so you have inspired me to take some indoor flower pics this afternoon.
(Since it is snowing - again - today, I'm not venturing out.)

Dave - you've got the knack for this, no doubt. I can tell you that #'s 3 and 4 capture a hibiscus - I know because I shot some pictures of 'em in our backyard with my DA 35, and asked my wife what they were before I posted the images.

Like you, I've never been parctiuclarly drawn to photographing flowers (althoug I shoot the occasional one), and I don't know why. The examples I see on the forum, including those in this thread, all tell me I should.

Thanks Jer - I think to do it up right one needs a tripod and a quiet calm day - so many I took were OOF because of a slight breeze or camera shake (may have been the blood alcohol thing

)

I can tell you that #'s 3 and 4 capture a hibiscus - I know because I shot some pictures of 'em in our backyard with my DA 35, and asked my wife what they were before I posted the images. Like you, I've never been parctiuclarly drawn to photographing flowers (althoug I shoot the occasional one), and I don't know why.
