Flower Power (Inspired from Daacon)
Posted By: J.Scott, 03-21-2009, 04:19 PM

It's Dave's fault! He posted some beautiful flower pictures today and he inspired me to get off my duff and take some flower pics too.

My wife loves plants and flowers. She has hesitated at trying to grow Orchids but recently took the plunge.

I moved in for a little tighter shot on the Orchid.
K10D + Voigtlander 125mm Lanthar

Everyone's favourite, African Violets.

Now I feel liberated. I did something positive today!

Nice series. Like them all. Third one the best. How come you guys in Canada have flowers and those of us in New York just got brown grass?

Jeffrey,
Very nice indeed! I grow African violets, and they are difficult for me to take good photos of. The blue-violet ones in particular give me a hard time getting the color correct. And now the darn things are dying, so I don't have many chances left to practice!

Thanks Irene. She has a green thumb so something is always blooming in the house. It is challenging to present the flowers in the colours as they actually appear. Although no one but myself would really know, I am a stickler for getting the colour right. The combination of light and exposure times can result in vastly different colours.
