My first outing with the Tamron adaptall-2 300mm/f2.8 +/- 1.7 AFA.
Posted By: pcarfan, 03-21-2009, 04:22 PM

I've had this lens for a few weeks and other than testing at home, never had the chance to shoot with it. I had some time today and was able to spent less than 2 hrs. at the Cincinnati zoo.

I was also able to get the 112mm Tamron Normal filter (at least one review says it actually increases sharpness wide open) , so these were all taken with it in place.

Thank you.

Wow! They are sharp as a tack! Great shots; I'd say the lens is a keeper.

Thank you very much. It is so great to get these different perspectives, as my very favorite by far is the first one. I just like the look of that monkey, the contrsat, the light etc. May be because that is the only image that my sigma 100-300 F4 cannot replicate.

But, it is always great to hear what another pair of eyes sees, I appreciate your comments.

I like all but the 4th image; but they are all pretty good and the first is just outstanding: The baboon, his look, the tree branches, are all at an oblique angle and really reinforce the power of the baboon's gaze.

Thank you very much.

I also have the sigma 100-300 which is as sharp as it gets...so, I am torn...one has to go though,..... eventually.

Thanks....I like images where it looks like the viewer is looking along the gaze of the subject, so thought I'd put it there...I really appreciate your comments. Thanks.

I'm a regular at the Cincinnati Zoo, where were you standing to get the flamingos with a 300mm lens?

Well, right by them, and shot the birds that were far
