Nice, bright and life-like!!! despite it being an abandoned factory.
If the asbestos wasn't being cleaned up, I'd have a model shoot here.

Nice shots

The Asbestos was deiniftely a worry, hence the cheap attempt to cover up. :P

Man that is a boat load of metal. The salvage (was there any copper ?) must have been worth quite a bit. Nice series and good to see you wearing a mask the Asbestos is nasty stuff.

Oh yeah, it was the real deal, we could have made thousands of dollars if we decided to start stealing, but that would have just been stupid.

Asbestos, the silent killer. That scares me a bit. :P

Nice pics! I love abandonned buildings.

As for asbestos, if there was no dust in the air you should be relatively safe. On the other hand if there was, be sure to properly wear a mask and wash the clothes you wore seperately for at least one wash. Just be sure the masks you use are rated for asbestos.

Great series! I like a lot those images shot upwards to the ceiling, and the two caterpillars image is excellent!

I hear you Pat. We are extensively trained in Health and Safety at work.
From what I recall about asbestos, as you said, is most dangerous if in a friable condition.
To properly protect your lungs from exposure you should be wearing something like this.

A paper surgical mask is basically useless.

Nice pics tho. Thanks for sharing.

There wasnt any dust at all, which was good. And clothes have been washed, a few times already. I have a good face covering respirator. I just didnt have filters at the time.

Why are you two wearing the same kind of jacket?

PS: love the shots. Industrial spaces always get me going.
