The abandoned farm 18+ (nudity)
Posted By: codiac2600, 03-30-2009, 10:47 PM

So I've been saving up this spot for ages just to shoot a model and I've finally broken my chains and took someone to the cooliest spot that I know of. There is a total of 3, yes 3, decaying barns and of course a super spooky farm house. This place is totally amazing and would take a dozen shoots to hit all the lines that this place can give you. It was 45 degrees out and windy so the 4 hour shoot was spent shooting then warming up and planning the next stage. I had an extremely hard time with getting the reflectors to stay in place since the wind would just blow them over even supported on my tough stands, but alas I decided for speed sake we would go all natural light.

I haven't decided what style I want to begin my series here with as I'm building a print gallery for two art showing I have in the next couple of months. There are a few different styles here and I'm not set on one or another so if one stands out more than another please let me know.

Chris, I'd agree with cupic - the 'noisy' B&W shot works best.
Then again, her pose in that shot is the best of them too.

Interesting location.. i definitely agree with the others about the B&W shot. Its a great shot. Pose and framing are good.

Not that the other two are bad, the contrast and DOF in the third shot works quite well, although, i think i would rather have a matching black, lacey bra on her to break up the intense light off the skin.

I really like the composition ,DOF and pose in #3. I think the lighting may be just a little too intense. I wonder how this one would have worked with some shadow.
Color and skin tone in #2 is fantastic.
I really like the B&W but I think #1 has a little too much detail loss.

Remember , I am a lowly amature so I thought twice about doing any critique. My abilities couldn't come near to this.

If you tilt more number 1 you can make it horizontal, although some people find horizontal boring.

Love the location! Dig the model! The first image is a pure stunner! Cracking shot! The pose, composition, grainy processing.... all comes together. The other two shots are good... great even. But, the first one has something magical.

Chris,

I like all three, but I'll have to stare at them for a few more hours before I decide which is my favorite (oops, am I drooling?). LOL!

Seriously, great series. I agree with the concensus and think the mood in the 1st image is outstanding. Number two is close behind though with the innosense in her posture. Number three has a great perspective and sparkling eyes.

Well done. Beautiful model too. I think the first one would look a little better without so much grain IMO. And I would like to see the second in black and white too. The background in three is very interesting, but her, uhhh, chest looks a little washed out and not so flattering (but I guess the point isn't to turn me on...). Again though, these are very well done and I could be quite wrong about my suggestions.

Oh, and to answer your question: I guess I prefer number 1 slightly more than 2.

I LOVE that first shot! Damn! You are really stepping up your game these days. Man, that is hotacious!

What works for that image (besides the PP, which I also love) is the models pose and the way it accentuates her curviness. That element isn't there in the last 2 shots. Still they were very well executed shots. Spots you chose to pose her in (especially the 2nd shot) were really good. I'd love to her or another model back in those same spots, but with better poses. You found a gold mine....that's for sure. You could spend all year shooting in that place.
