A walk by the lamps
Posted By: JMR, 04-07-2009, 07:43 AM

In the same place as the sleeping swans, you can go for an early evening stroll on the boardwalk lit by lamplights. As you walk, just before dark, you can see the outlines of majestic willows before their leaves come into bloom. I actually came to photograph their orange-brown branches but discovered it was the wrong time of day to bring out the spring colours.

Great shots and processing, my favorite is #2 feels and looks so dreamy, the glow from the lamp and the couple walking really work great, thanks for sharing.

I am all about that second one... a full on dreamscape...

Have you printed this one, or any of your dreamy PP shots at 8x12 or larger? I just wonder how the printer does with the that 'dreamy' soft glow?

I do not have my own printer so would need to take somewhere to have some of my 'trippy' shots printed.

Not yet Gus. I am waiting for my tax refund so I can do some large prints. I did one small commercial 4x6 photo and it did not do justice to the image. Just could not tell if it was good or bad. Let you know when I do. Be careful of the big store prints, the quality is not that good. Thanks for the comments.

Superb. If I could criticise maybe it would give my compliments more credibility, but your work is almost always pinpoint perfect.

I like both shots. Is PP in the second one the so-called Orton technique? Very nice.

Two nice photos JMR but that second one is one sweet image. That one should hang on a wall, thanks for posting them.

Too kind. I have one reservation about No-2 but I am not telling ;-)

A "gorey short", now that is something I have never heard of before.

Yes, but it was first processed in colour until I recognized it would make a great BW image. BTW, there are no real secrets or magic in what I do, just experimentation. Sometimes a photo is half BW and half colour, sometimes orton, sometimes diffusion, sometimes oversharpening, etc. Thanks for the comments.
