There was a brilliant moon out last night after the fog went away. Unforunately I didn't have a tripod with me, so I had to do the shots handheld. Also I don't have much experience shooting the moon. I tried a few shots of just the moon which came out decent enough, but my longest lens is 200mm, which proved to be to short. So instead I tried to grab a few shots of the moon and the clouds that surounded it, but there was a major difference in exposure time for the two, so I had to chose between exposing for the moon or the cloud. The moon actually looks like the sun.



This shot was taken with an aperture of 4.5, a shutter time of 0.5 and ISO 1600. When I exposed just for the moon I would get a shutter time of 1/500 if the other settings were left the same. Regretably, I didn't get a chance to lower the ISO to get a decent moon shot as the fog swept back inn and covered it up again.

shooting the moon is tricky, as you are learning. It is a sunlit object so it's quite bright.

Indeed a full moon is much harder to shoot. You did well for what you had.
