Bayon near Angkor Wat - help me choose please
Posted By: mike.hiran, 04-12-2009, 08:23 PM

Hi all,
Got back from a 1 week trip to Bangkok and Angkor Wat around a week ago, and between bouts of jet lag and flu medication stupor, I've gone through around half of my pictures. But I'm a bit unsure which types of pics I like... color (sometimes desaturated), b&w (sometimes infrared added in post), or infrared w/ cross processing. I'll be posting more pics as the week progresses from my trip, but was wondering what you all thought of the different interpretations...

Thanks in advance!

Here's a link to wikipedia regarding the Angkor area and it talks a bit about the history and symbolism of these sites.

Thanks! I also like infrared... it has that dreaminess that seems to fit Angkor Wat as it's such a surreal place, especially this temple, Bayon with all the huge faces of King Jayavarman VII or Buddha.

I was thinking this was my favorite too, especially when the sky was overcast and tended to be blown out. I like how the greenish tone adds to the texture and seems to give more life than a standard b&w, but at the same time gives an eeriness/dreaminess that is somewhat absent from the color versions... Thanks for commenting!

Thanks Edicon... the hard part about Angkor Wat is that there are SO MANY details to capture; it's tough to decide what to take pictures of. Just an amazing place...
