Pentax K10D, Tamron 90mm MF f2.8 macro lens and off camera flash.
Joss stick and black baking tray as a background.
Cutlery for number 3.
PP with Lightroom 2 or PS7

Thanks.

Just lit a joss stick and then blew it out so just smoking and put it in front of a black background. Off camera flash pointing to the side of the smoke and then just focus on the stream of smoke and gently blow to get some pattern.
Shoot and hope.

In processing up the black and then adjust the tint and hue to change the colour of the smoke and clone to remove unwanted parts.

To get the white background just invert the image first.

A very good and interesting series, Wonderful forms and use of colours. Some have animal and human-like forms.

nice work! i like this alot! and i love playing with smoke (done similar set up and shooting - see on flickr - ) this is great.. !
but did you usa any flash filters for the colouring or just PP? (I do only minimal PP so I wouldn't know )

funny, i was just reading an article on that on a photo mag..
and the photographer said he used sound to excite the smoke, it's on the may/june issue of american photo

great stuff btw
