I was sad to learn this, I can remember reading his work many years ago and thinking "this is something different"

Jeff, thanks for posting those -- amazing! And what a story. In fact, I think Ballard was the best short story writer of the twentieth century. His novels were always a more hit and miss affair, though certainly powerful by the standards of most writers.

I am glad you like the photo. I think it will be one my personal favourites. Hard to say right now, clouded as I am by emotion.

Ballard's collected stories are available in one volume. Those reading this and wondering what all the fuss is about could do themselves a favour by buying it and reading a story every day.
