A Bell in B&W
Posted By: Sailor, 04-22-2009, 05:43 PM

Here's a B&W conversions of a bell (circa 1835) located on an outbuilding of a plantation. I have no idea how it was used.

Nice shot Jer.
No Idea why a bell would be there, could have been for signalling when to stop work or something like that.

Could well've been. It just occured to me that this bell is on the outbuilding kitchen - perhaps it called folks to meals.

Simple and effective composition.

Jer, the texture works in favor to render a touch of nostalgia

Thanks, my friend. I'm happy with the way this one turned out, as well.

Nice composition and B&W conversion. I like the way the light accentuates the stucco(?) texture which nicely frames the smooth bell.

I appreciate it, Scott. And it is stucco - applied in the early 20th Century long after the house was built (1830's) if memory serves.
