More Candids!
Posted By: Alvin, 04-15-2007, 11:53 PM

Spent a late night out with friends (more and more like family to me) on Saturday. Some candids before our attention went to the movies playing in the basement. All shot with no flash.

1. Ethan (my son) and Josh playing on the Nintendo DS. (SMC 28/3.5)
2. Daniel while playing on with Ethan's Nintendo DS. (SMC-M 135/3.5, converted to B&W in camera) - waiting approval at pentaxphotogallery.com
3. Miguel (father of Daniel and Josh) and Daniel watching a movie - like father, like son (SMC 28/3.5)

That third one is priceless! All very good shots, hope the second one makes it into the gallery (I haven't had enough nerver to even submit anything to the gallery... come to think of it, I don't have the nerve to post very many here either!)

Thanks Carol! I happened to see your dog (Chance?) in the post your dogs and cats thread. You've got a great looking dog - don't be shy to post up more

I agree; that third one is priceless. The only thing I would wish to politely suggest is that you consider cropping it on the left to so that only the gold wall remains. It won't hurt to have the subjects a bit off center to the left since they are both looking at something directly to the right.

Excellent shots Alvin. The second and third belong on the wall for sure. Let us know how you make out with #2.

Thanks, everyone, for the supportive comments and feedback! I was considering submitting #3 into the gallery but didn't know what to do about the noise and the framing. I shot this at ISO 1600 which explains some of the graininess in the shot when I pixel peep. I'm going to try a crop then levels adjustment and see what happens. Any suggestions to fix the noise/graininess or should I keep it?

Mike - the crop to place the subjects to the left is an idea. I'll fiddle with that. Thanks
