Don't Spill Your Drink!
Posted By: JulesJ, 04-27-2009, 08:47 PM

Playing around and making a mess! I'm good at that! I ended up getting this.

The second is a solarized version of the first.

Cool, how about telling us how you did it?

PS, I hope you didn't waste any.

I used 3x1000Watt halogen lights. The glass was sitting on a sheet of glass. The glass on an upturned old white plastic darkroom developing dish. I was able to grip the end of the glass and pulled it back and forth to slop the fluid around, building up momentum until it slopped higher than the rim of the glass. In my other hand was a cable release to fire off the camera to take the image.

I spilled a lot but it was only strawberry food flavouring. I'm not silly enough to waste good wine!!!

I like that second shot.
The first one, I feel that there isn't enough contrast between the glass and the background.

This calmed me down again after looking at your photos. Very well executed! I like them a lot, especially the 1st one.

Great shots, can't really choose between them, they belong together like a diptych!

It almost looks as if there's someone rising out of the liquid. Or maybe that's just me...

I see it also especially in the solarized version.

Yes! I'm glad it was not only me seeing that. I'm beginning to see things everywhere that don't seem to be really there.

Of the two, I prefer the first one - something different, and thanks for the description on how you created the shot.
