Landscapes and flowers of Mainau Island (Voigtlander 125, FA31, DA15)
Posted By: tcom, 04-29-2009, 10:00 AM

On Sunday, I visited the Island of Mainau in Germany on Lake Constance.

As equipment, I took a K20D with Voigtlander 125, and a K-m with FA31 and DA15.

The series will not only contain macros and closeups, but also a few landscapes.

1
K20D, Voigtlander 125, 1/50s f/5.6 iso100

2
K-m, DA15, 1/125s f/8.0 iso100

3
K20, Voigtlander 125, 1/180s f/3.5 iso100

Lovely series Dominique. The colour reproduction, contrast and overall IQ with the DA15 seem very good. The early impressions from the metrics driven crowd didn't seem favourable but it appears this lens performs well in the field. Is that your conclusion as well? (Of course, the VL 125 and FA31 perform pretty well as well!) Dave

Thank you.

Dave: I am really pleased with the performance of the DA15. It is not a top contender wide open, but closed down, it gets very good, especially for the size of the DA15.

Thanks for the input. I agree that the size of the DA15 is very attractive and, in my experience, this is a focal length that I tend to use in the F8-f22 range. To me the softness wide open is a reasonable design compromise. Dave
