Wide, wide Sweden (DA18-55 on an ME Super)
Posted By: brkl, 04-30-2009, 09:05 AM

Not a completely compatible set-up: always tiny aperture, image circle doesn't cover the entire frame at the widest settings, etc... But it's the cheapest 18mm lens for a film camera you can find! Metering is still perfect. I quite liked many of the pictures. All ME Super with Superia 200.

I think it's a very cool effect myself. Nice series!

Thanks! The circle is present because I wanted to get the absolute most out of the wide angle view. I don't have prints of these yet (I'm about to move and don't want to mail them), but when I get prints done, I _may_ crop the pictures. Or maybe not! Depends on the pic. I think it works on that one for instance. In any case there's a lot of latitude in what kind of aspect ratio I want.

I like both the effect of the circle and the pictures. Did you have to use a tripod for all of them?

Thanks, kevin I don't own a tripod! A few of them have been taken by setting the camera on various surfaces, though. The one from the church was something like half a minute.

try unzooming your DA18-55 to 20mm - you'll get slightly less wide angle, but you'll loose black borders.

Thanks!
Quite many of the pictures I took were around 20-22mm and not 18mm. But I knew I'd get the black borders. The goal was to get as wide a view as possible with this equipment.

Nice shots, looks like one can use the heavy vignetting as an artsy effect!
