Sigma 100-300 F4 + 2XTC Bower MC Pz/AF
Posted By: pcarfan, 05-03-2009, 10:46 AM

Testing this combo...taken at 300/f8 (so with the TC 600/f16) on a tripod, with 2 sec timer. Cropped about 50%.

Interesting, does this TC handle the metering and aperture in auto mode (A-setting)?

Yes it does, and it even auto focuses.

Not crazy about the background, but IQ looks very good, and pretty much no purple-fringe.

Got some potential with that combo!

Very interesting, what made you try the Bower? Its really not to bad at all.

I have been thinking about trying the Promaster 1.7X AF. You know how I have been about TCs. Hinman did a real good review on it.
Anyway, how much did the Bower run you? Thanks for posting.

There is no PF, the sigma 100-300 is immune from it.

These are just test shots, the background is just incidental.

I think there is some potential as well....I am surprised.

I got the TC to remove the lens element and use it as an auto focus extension tube for my FA77. I bought it for $50 at the marketplace. Before gutting it, I tried it on my sigma, from my early tests this 2Xtc is doing as good as the sigma 1.4 TC. I will have to test more, but if this is true in all situations, I will be thrilled.
