Butterfly on flower
Posted By: Arjay Bee, 04-18-2007, 02:16 AM

Over the last few months I have posted images from tropical north Queensland. Another aspect is the natural flora and faunaNow that the wet season is over the butterflies are out and the ixora flowers are like beacons for them. The one on this flower would be 10-12cm wide and the abdomen would be as thick as a woman's pinky finger. They are beautiful in the wild but very quick and twitchy.

Arjay, these butterflies are beautiful. I like the fact that you captured these photos with the wings in motion.

The butterflies are a bit like dragonflies in that they return to the same shrub over time so it is just a case of hanging about and staying downwind. Thank you for the comments. We don't have the sights of NY up here but there are a few redeeming features.
