Aviation Museum B/W
Posted By: ve2vfd, 05-06-2009, 09:28 AM

Playing around with B/W conversions and old planes... they are a match made in heaven!

Unfortunately like most museums the lighting is atrocious for any kind of picture taking...

In this one I decided to try for an unusual POV by extending my monopod high over my head and using the remote to trigger the camera.

Nice shots. BW works well for the older planes. Looks like a great place to wander around.

The Lancaster shot is great. I love the composition and the B&W treatment

Love the lancaster shot indeed brings back memories (I got to fly in an Argus one time the plane that replaced the Lancaster in Serach and Rescure). Really like the last one as well Pat well done.

As an ex Airforce pilot who flew a few of those, CF-101 VooDoo with the CF-5 and CF-104 behind to the left, good shots.

Scott ... Thanks, yes that museum is a pretty cool place to check out! We spent a nice morning wandering aound.

Axl ... The lancaster was a really grainy shot so I figured the only way to save it was to make it grainier and give it the B/W treatment. It saved the pic!

Dave ... Thanks, I'd love to fly in a lancaster myself... such a classic plane!

Denis ... Hey you got a good eye! Glad you like it, I was experimenting with different points of view by holding my monopod high above my head and really enjoyed the result with the Voodoo.

I think you are a little too close for that angle on the first image.
And move back considerably and give a panoramic crop treatment with the F-101 on the far right of the frame would have been very nice as well.
Just Some Other Jackass leaving my impressions.
