Sora Rail in adult breeding plumage.

After a lengthy search through Stokes Field Guide (Eastern Region of all things), I can tell you rather confidently that that is a Sora. It's hard to tell (given the picture in my book is from the side) but it looks like he/she may be halfway between summer and winter plumage.

Hopefully that is of help,

Thank Wildman. Looks like we have it confirmed. I was slightly off on the focus. Cropped about 75%. Hand-held was the problem. Thanks Bud. JIM

I am really impressed. Sora are hard enough to spot when simply birdwatching and you managed to get a picture!
