NYC subway system
Posted By: skeuos, 05-12-2009, 06:15 PM

There have been a couple threads recently on photographers getting harassed in subways around the world (NYC included), so I figured I'd post a few shots from my ongoing personal project. All were shot with a K100D Super and the DA15-55. C&C always appreciated.

1. Before and after

2. Manhattan-bound

3. Uptown local

4. Impatience

5. 63rd and Lex

Good to see these images.

I'd love to visit NYC someday.

nice series,
maybe I'll go and do some of London's tube system for comparison
though if I won't post for a while here I'll be in the prison under anti-terorism act

Peter, I know your jokin' but I wouldn't fear the police in the UK. They're the ones that look stupid in enforcin' this ridiculous law. They haven't caught anyone yet in regard to Terrorist activities.
I don't mind bein' stopped by the police, 'cos it gives me the opportunity to voice my opinion to 'em straight.
I then go home and call the complaint number, and I usually get an apology.

Thanks, everyone! I find that about 95% of these wind up in b&w, which seems about right when I'm composing. Occasionally one has to be in color (#5).

A few notes - #3 has long been my personal favorite. If I ever actually make my daydream of a book a reality, this would be the cover.

The camera was on my shoe for #5 - couldn't bring myself to put it on the floor.

As far as the lack of people - it's all timing. Weekends and evenings, and then wait for those precious one or two minutes after one train leaves and before people arrive to wait for the next one.

I would love to see other subways from around the world - I've ridden a few, but never really taken any shots. Anybody want to add some?

Here's a b&w similar to #5
