I can't believe how fast these Heron's can catch a fish. Got these two today. JIM

I think the first image is slightly off on focus. The other two are closer. Thank you for your kind words. JIM

Great shots, Jim! I love the 'one more' most, the fish is nicely positioned in that one. Also the bright green suits very well to the colours of the heron.

Very nice Jim.

They look like keepers to me. We have some herons hunting in the pond up the road but I've never been able to get close enough for a shot as good as these. It is so hard to really "nail" the focus on fast moving targets such as birds. In my own sad experience maybe one in a hundred shots are spot on - OK maybe one in two hundred.

Thanks Georg. Being hand held and with the Heron moving, it beomes a challenage to get the focus spot on. JIM

Thanks Tom. You are right about getting close enough to get a good shot. I find as long as they are hunting for food they don't even know you are there. I had to wiat 30+ minutes before moving closer. I could really use a 400mm lens for chots like these. I am still looking for that dead on shot with sharpness and lighting. I have been close but still not perfect. Cheers JIM
