Yes, my daughter was competing in the javelin throw, so I got there half way through the meet. I was walking up the driveway to the field. I decided to just bring my K100D and 50-200 lens and tuck it in my coat if it rained. I saw the pole vault was about to start and got a thought in my head, "Hey, I think this might be cool to get the pole vaulter from a low angle with the sky in the background." So, I pointed and shot. I wasn't expecting the exposure, but that actually makes it better!
Not necesarily dumb luck. There is skill, thought and equipment at work here.
I can definately show you lot's of dud pictures that I planned and didn't turn out at all like I wanted. I just like pictures and like taking lot's of them.
So, while I can't "spread talent", I can say that if you enjoy photography, take lots of pictures. I'm discovering my mind works best on quick, non-thinking, reactive pictures. If I plan it out, I over think it. Much the same for my golf game.
