I did some experimental photographing and shooted this river with longer exposures.

Ooh, I like all of them. The last two especially because they are so abstract and don't even look like water anymore. This is a terrible compliment for a photograph, but they'd make excellent desktop wallpapers Also framed on a wall, I'm sure

The 2nd and 3rd are especially compelling images - well done! Would love to know what lens, focal length used (if not a prime), and shutter speed/aperture. Very nice images and wonderful abstracts!

They're all great! It's hard to pick a favorite, and they are all inviting to look longer.....

EDIT: went to your Flickr, and the Lycopodium annotinum photo is great too!

All of them are very nice but #1 is my fav. It has the best lines (IMHO) and is at exactly the right spot between real and abstract. Nicely done!

I'd call this a successful experiment! I really liked all of them, probably #3 is my favorite. They are just on the edge between realism and abstraction.

When an image gets this abstract it is often hard for the viewer to "connect" to it.

But these work and work well for me.
Well done.

Thank you Lou!
I used my Sigma 105mm/2.8 for these. Aperture was something from f/16 to f/32. Shutter speed varied from 2sec to 6sec.

I can tell and that's why the photo's work. Just enough to make them pop Joni. I will have to give this a try. What I really like about all your photo's is the lighting. Looking through your 30+ approvals on PPG, they are all works of art! JIM
